really liked it
bookshelves: 2009, young-adult, science-fiction, dystopian-post-apocalyptic

I'm not sure I liked this book as much as the first one, but it definitely kept me guessing until the very end! I devoured the first novel, but I felt like it started to slow down at the end. This second installment steadily picks up speed after the first one hundred pages or so. By the end, I got to feeling that it was sort of a transitory book, but, as always, Suzanne Collins writes with strength and creates characters that are multi-layered and fun to read about. I like Katniss in a way that I don't like a lot of young-adult (and adult) heroines. I think she's a good mixture of virtues and faults that I find quite realistic. The plot is pretty strong and full of twists and turns that make it quite unpredictable. Great book.
