it was amazing
Read in August, 2009

The story occurs between 1892-1894, but past and future references reach beyond those dates. Ancient Buddhist texts, 20th-c Tibetan-Chinese politics, and imminent world conditions layer the plot and characters. The book's appeal is Sherlock Holmes's departure from logic into spirituality and wizardry. People yearning but unwilling to venture onto the Roof of the World will eat up this Bollywood Shangri-La. Other readers will be Holmes' loyal fans. Still others familiar with Tibetan, Buddhism, or Tibet itself will appreciate the author's imaginative retelling. The uninitiated reader will find the book stands alone after Holmes and Moriarty joust at Reichenbach Falls. Jamyang Norbu ties up these loose ends, writing a sequel with the style of a 21st-c Watson.
