Philippa loves to wear black. Not because she is a goth but because she feels like black offers her a way to "be ready" when tragedy happens....such as the night her mom was killed in a car accident. So she feels like her new job as a nanny is made for her when she notices the ad is specifically looking for someone who loves black. And the job is perfect for her...she isn't scared of ghosts, she doesn't get creeped out by two 10-year-old twins who seem to come straight from the Adam's family, and she is quickly infatuated with the gardening boy. What's not to like?

This book is a very quick read that I am sure my reluctant middle school readers will enjoy. It is light and fun with just enough of a mystery about it. Philippa quickly realizes that the main problems with the twin girls isn't that they need fun, as detailed in their schedules, but the love and attention of their overworked father. So, Philippa takes on the challenge of bringing the family together with the help of one very cute gardener and an assistant secretary who is very business minded. Standing in their way is Lady Buena Verde who the author lets the reader decide if she is truly all work and no play or something more sinister.
