I loved the beginning of this book, the first chapters in particular. The rest was alright, a good story wrecked, somewhat, by overwhelming it with details regarding the spousal abuse. I think the relentlessness of such abuse could be conveyed without repetition; it felt as though the author distrusted his own research/insight into that predicament. So it felt like he was convincing himself that he did, indeed, know.
