I honestly could not to decide whether to rate this as 5-stars or 1-star. In the end, I decided to go with 5-stars for one very good reason.

When I started reading it, I got a feeling of exhilaration I get only when a book is so well written and the characters are so alive that it just GRABS me. I wanted to finish it as quickly as possible so I could see where it was going. I can only count a dozen books that have really grabbed me like that. The first 4 books in the Sword of the Truth series are included in that list.

Despite my disappointments with some of the plot points, the characters actions, and the argument about whether it's a sequel or not, it's still a VERY GOOD book and can be enjoyed by SoT fans and non-SoT fans alike. I realize that those disppointments are MINE to own and not the author's failure to write a good well, written and compelling story about a "universe" that I've come to love.
