Title and Author of book: Darling Jim: A Novel by Christian Moerk

Fiction or non-fiction: Fiction
Genre: Heck I don't know, Mystery
Where did I get the book: My little 'ol hometown library
Challenges that this fulfilled: my 'I want to read 30 books in 2009' challenge

Who recommended this book to me?: I think it was my Sitster-In-Law Staci, who by the way is the person I got this wonderful review layout from. I love it and she uses these questions all the time. :)

Summarize the plot but don't give away the ending! Two sisters and their crazy, freaky aunt are found dead in their Dublin home, by their mailman. The mailman, later on finds one of the girls' journals, with her final thoughts, in the post office's unclaimed mail bin. After reading the journal Mr. Mailman, Niall, travels back to their hometown to try and uncover the mystery revolving their lives and deaths.

What did you like most about this book? There is a lot of things wrapped up in the last chapter, and I will have to say that is my favorite part. I loved finally figuring out why some of the characters did what they did.

What did you like least? I'm going to repeat myself and say the last chapter. One of the characters was given a mythical twist and I didn't really like that. There were several parts of the book that didn't seam realistic, and even though it is fiction...I want my books to seem real. Darling Jim tells a story about a wolf and the 'journals' have the story word for word in them. To me this isn't realistic. Could they really remember the story and then write it in their journals?? I would have liked to see it just as another chapter of the book.

Have you read any other books by this author? No, this is the first.

What about the ending? Overall I liked how many questions were answered in the end.

Photobucket
