I don't read a lot of biographical novels, so this was an interesting read for me. I learned a lot and had a good time as well...Rachel Jackson had an astonishing life. I have to admit that I haven't decided whether I ended up loving Andrew Jackson for his personal sacrifices for our country or hating him for what those sacrifices cost his wife. It's definitely a fascinating story.

Folliesgirl14 As for Andrew Jackson, I'd go with hate. He was responsible for the Trail of Tears and was a total jackass (a term invented for him by the way). But he really did love Rachel, and it baffles me how a man can be capable of such strong hatred and love at the same time. I know Jackson had issues, but that doesn't excuse what he did. Rachel, on the other hand, I would love to have met. She seems like a saintly person (she'd have to be to put up with Andrew Jackson).
