Obviously, I didn't read "all of them" in August '01 but this seemed more expeditious than adding all seven individually. Em and I read through whatever number was current right away and then each subsequent book in the day or two after they were released. All 7 were read aloud together.
I'd tried reading HP1 when it first came out. My little brother was of an age to have heard of them right at the beginning of the craze from his school mates so the books where floating around our house. I picked the first one up idly one day and flipped through the first chapter but, incredibly, just didn't get into it.
A few years later, motivated by the impending release of the first movie, a desire to read the books -- to visualize them for myself before being told how they should look -- hit me. Emily was interested too, and while I don't remember the all of the circumstance, I clearly recall the evening we started.
