Disappointing after having read Lush Life. The characters were less interesting, original, intriguing, sympathetic. And the dialogue, incredibly real in Lush Life, seemed forced and cliché. Sure, the story moved well, I wanted to see what happened next, but after 600 pages, the ending/resolution is fairly unsatisfying. The book wasn't bad; Price knows his material (or is skilled enough to convince me he does), it just seemed not to want to transcend the Crime genre, as Lush Life did. Oh well.
