really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction

This is lovely piece of historical fiction and I must say I was quite surprised because I didn’t expect this will be such a satisfying story (don’t know why).

The scene (history) of early 20th century Oklahoma is fantastic but the portraits of the characters are breathtaking. The story follows life of almost an entire century of Kate Dexter such a strong, brave woman [something not quite common in those days on the US south:] who survived all tragedies that stroke her. And those were such an enormous tragedies that you really have to ask yourself would you be able to go through all that? Would you have the strength and will to fight on and on?
As I said I’ve read this book long time ago but Kate is such a memorable woman that her spirit didn’t fade.

Highly recommended this hidden gem. This book surely deserves much more fame and attention than what it has!
