Remainder is a story about a man who has a mysterious accident and who is awarded a huge amount of money to not talk about the accident and who spends the money recreating what are possibly memories and possibly fabrications. He becomes obsessed with building an apartment complex to replicate a crack seen in a wall, a smell of fried liver. This book plays with the notion of memory and authenticity as the protagonist goes to increasingly more bizarre and disturbing lengths to lose consciousness inside repetitive actions.

Melanie That sounds amazing, I wonder what it was like for the author to write this. What would you guess his process was?
Or try not to think about it.
