This is the first book I've read in a along time that I actually resented putting down. It stayed with me, haunting me almost, until I finished whatever activity had forced me away and took it back up again. I don't usually care for the format of letters written back and forth between people, but in this case it worked beautifully. Just as I was hoping for a miracle and that Elizabeth might appear, the letter from Remy came instead. It wasn't a shock. It was what I expected. But I was angry and upset. I could sympathize utterly with Juliet. What a triumph Ms. Shaffer and Ms. Barrows have created - a world that comes alive, that makes you laugh and cry, swear and fume. These are characters that will live on. Dare we hope for more? Please?
