This is a 3 1/2 for me. Thus far I'm enjoying the series although I'm a little ticked about the super cliff-hanger ending.

The characters are strong and interesting. They seem like real, normal kids put in difficult situations. I appreciate how they try so hard to do what is right, even if it's hard. And if they do wrong, they acknowledge it and learn from it.

This series would be great for 10+. It would also make a great read-aloud with your older kids. While most of the "heroes" are boys, there are some really strong female characters which I think makes this series accessible to both male and female.

I'll continue to read and collect this series for when my boys are older.

My husband read this to the boys as a bedtime story. They loved it. We have had many, many battles here. They talk about it all the time. They try to blend into their surroundings so they can jump out and scare me. Lots of good times!
