This is a strange, twisted novel about how fucked up our future could be... there are no more computers, no more books, no more hands-on information... everything is downloaded right into your head... the feed.

"I don't know when they first had feeds. Like, maybe, fifty or a hundred years ago. Before that they had to use their hands and eyes. Computers were all outside the body. They carried them around outside of them, in their hands, like if you carried your lungs in a briefcase and opened it to breathe."

This book has it's own special language... the people go all 'mal' all the time (malfunctioning) they call each other 'unit' instead of dude and the word 'like' is used to the point of absurdity.

So, ya, it's a young adult novel, but it is totally disturbing... plus all the main characters keep sprouting these lesions all over their bodies and they think it is just, like, the coolest thing ever. Except for one girl, one girl's feed is malfunctioning and she is seeing the crazy world they live in for what it really is.
