My takeaways:

* Most small businesses are started by "Technicians" who suffer an entrepreneurial seizure.

* Separate your life from your work or you will own a job instead of owning a business. Work on your business, not in it. Worn on your life, not in it.

* Systemize your business as if you were going to franchise it, regardless of how small it is.

* A successful small business (done right) can replace much unfulfillment in this world. Constantly test the limits of your comfort zone.
