This book was also very readable. Its non-fiction, but I would still call it a page-turning, quick read. Each chapter focused on some way surgeons have improved their performance (with the exception of a kind of out of place section on the ethics of doctors who support executions in the penal system). Each case study should be a must read for people in my job as it stresses fundamental priciples of vigilence, paying attention to trends, and, most of all "doing the right thing". Amazing the parallels between being a surgeon and any profession that has to do critical work. A class I have to take at work is "Spaceflight Resource Managament", which is similar to "Crew Resource Management" taught to pilots to learn how to use all their human and technical resources in the cockpit. I have heard this class is also taught to surgeons, and I can see why, a lot of the lessons learned in this book are definitely applicable.. ]]>
