it was amazing
bookshelves: memoir, 2009-favorites
Read in July, 2009 — I own a copy

A completely unexpected gem! I read this book specifically for the 2009 Summer Challenge and boy am I glad I did. Although I’ve never experienced anything half as painful as cancer and disfigurement in my life, this memoir of a child who experienced both connected me to memories of my own childhood and adolescence more than any book I’ve ever read. And that connection reached even farther into feeling connected to the pain and trials we universally face in attempting to live in a world that falls far short of our childhood dreams. I highly recommend this book to old and young alike.
