it was amazing
bookshelves: westerns

I went through a huge western period in my teens, and this is still one of my favorites. This novel isd based on the story of Cynthia Ann Parker, a Texas pioneer child who was kidnapped by the Comanche during a raid on the family fort. She was adopted into the tribe and grew up to marry a Comanche chief. Their son, Quanah Parker was the last free leader of the Comanche nation.

Anyhow, the first 2/3 of this book is lovely and joyful. The last 1/3 reflects American history in regards to the Native Americans and is predictably sad. Get the kleenex ready.
