I was excited to read this noir-ish urban fantasy about a private investigator, Harper, who after a near-death experience, begins to see that middle place between the now and after called The Grey.

To be honest, I could not finish this book. Which is highly unusual for me - I really tried to give this one a fair chance. I read about half the way through and even skimmed the rest of the book and still nada. I keep waiting for the story to grab me or the characters to do something interesting but that 'wow' factor never came. The characters did not seem real or believable at all - everything that came out of Harper's mouth either didn't fit with my idea of her or just seemed trite. On top of that, I felt like the writing was competely uninspiring and didn't help me get a feel for the action at all. So I'm not exactly impressed and I doubt I'll revisit it either.
