Not an account of the act itself per se, but the circumstances surrounding the burning of a million pounds are set out.

The book focuses on reactions to the event, and questions whether it was art or not. In essence however, the reactions are not a good sample: they're based on reactions of people who viewed the (silent) film of the burning being carried out, so who therefore had some preconceived idea of the event.

In some instances Drummonsd and Cauty were present, but silent throughout, on other occasions they add to the debate.

Sprinkled throughout are philosophical quotes and theories about money's role within society.

It certainly made me question my relationship with money, my attitude towards it, materialism and society in general.

The book doesn't try to draw conclusions, but instead encourages you to think about things and question your own feelings about it.
