it was amazing
Read in August, 2008

This is perhaps my favorite book of all. The first time I read it was in sixth grade, and more recently, as a sophomore in college. I enjoyed it on both occasions, even more so the second time when I had enough perspective to begin deciphering the novel's numerous characters.

GWTW is more than a period romance- it has sparks certainly, but contrary to how the media plays it out, it reaches far beyond that. While some have stated that its historical references are inaccurate, I feel that the merit is more to be found in the emotions it evokes of war from the so-called "wrong" side, the South in this case, than from dates or facts. Above all, it has a brilliant heroine that truly brings life and interest to the novel.

As a warning, please don't watch the movie. It can't do it justice and will simply spoil one's perceptions of the novel.
