*actually 3 1/2*

Loved this book :) It seemed natural that Diana would be upset at Alex for his choosing to leave for the army instead of make a life with her but it was all put into perspective for the reader (and Alex later on) when we're told that she got pregnant and suffered a miscarriage without him.

I didn't like how she insisted on marrying another man- Rumford- just because she is forcing herself to think that it is over between Alex and her when it's clearly not. Diana even realizes that she is with Rumford (a man old enough to be with her father and I thought might end up with her mother) is because she is yearning for a father figure. Disgusting much? She knows that and still lets the old man's tongue down her throat.

All the while Alex has been telling her he loves her and always has. Diana's breaking off her engagement with Rumford should have happened earlier, it felt as if Wolf ran out of pages.

The side story between Alex's younger sister Sally and Robert the Duke of Sinclair was as enjoyable as the main romance but it didn't overshadow it, which is the way secondary romances should be! Sally's innocence and faith that the supposed big bad Duke was not all he was portrayed to be by the ton was sweet and his declaration of love and her insistence that he give marriage a shot was wonderful.

Overall a pretty good read :) :) :)
