This reads a bit like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, with a fish-out-of-water protagonist, a too cool to be believed ersatz group leader, and a sexy and competent female companion who saves their bacon time and again. It's nearly as absurd as Douglas Adams' strange world, but more violent, cynical, and sexual, where the suspense of the threat of violence feels more real than in HGttG, and the posthuman sex also is threatening on a different level. It's a fun book for grown-ups, with lots of interesting ideas.
