Riveting. Once I started I couldn't put it down. The author's voice is sincere and heart-wrenching. The grueling detail of the Khmer Rouge's reign of terror is put into true perspective through the eyes of a 5 year old little girl as she watches her family suffer, die, and she herself is ravaged by fear, hunger, and a deeply seeded fury against those who commit these crimes against herself and her family. The cruel reality of starvation and oppression is starkly apparenty, and you find yourself wondering "how could this have happened?" I highly recommend it. A MUST read.
