This was a tough book. I really had a hard time getting started with it, but once I got into the dialogue I really started liking it. There were so many characters to keep track of and that made it tough. Many were inconsequential, and that bothered me. The English was very tough, but it really made me want to see the movie they made with Elizabeth Taylor. So that will be another one for me to see. One thing that I kept thinking about when I read was there was a huge problem between the Saxons and the Normans. It was interesting how everyone was discriminatory against the other, except for the protagonists. They only went against the other when revenge was called for. Then there was the whole Jew issue that I couldnt believe that it was part of the book. Discrimination against them, but only the bad guys did it. Really wierd to have all these issues going on. I liked the book, especially the RObin Hood kind of in the back ground character, not a main part of the whole. It ...more
