bookshelves: keeping-up-appearances, poorly-shelved

I enjoyed this while I was reading it, but have since lost most recollection of it. I suppose that I have difficulty relating to stories of european nobility. The very idea of hiding a baby's birth for purposes of... what was it, succession? just doesn't stick in my head, and more universal themes seemed lacking. I think you're supposed to empathize with the princess, but I couldn't.
