I listened to some of Evanovich's "between the numbers" books prior to starting the Stephanie Plum series because this title was never available at my library. I enjoyed the BtN books more, but I never judge a series based on the first book, just as I never judge a television series by the pilot. Both are usually just not that good. This book introduced me to Stephanie and how she began her career as a bounty hunter, which was good since I had been listening to later books. It was good for audio, and I plan on continuing the series ON AUDIO. I don't see myself picking these up and reading them - they are just not the type of books I gravitate towards. Stephanie Plum is easy to love - she is quirky and fun. Evanovich makes her sassy and smart-talking, which makes for some great lines in the book. Fun, but nothing great.
