I couldn't finish listening to this. I'm a Burroughs fan, and saw that this won an audio book award, but I was sorely disappointed. His reading was awful. The pace was slow and the dramatic scenes of mental abuse and animal cruelty left me irritated more than empathetic to his younger self.

Maryka The book itself is an engaging read. Audiobooks should only be recorded by professional actors. The voice the writer hears in his head as he writes is not necessarily the one that comes out of his mouth.
