The book starts out with a series of questions you need to answer in order to eventually create something like a writing business plan. I found these exercises pretty useful.

Why do I write? What do I hope to get from writing? What do I most enjoy writing about? Believe it or not after, I don't know, 20 something years considering myself "a writer," these aren't actually questions that I can answer very definitively. So, this book is great for making you sit down and think these things through.

The rest of the book, actual advice about how to get work as a freelancer writer, isn't quite as helpful. In fact, most books that cover this topic oversimplify the process, don't take into account how things work on the Internet, or are just dead wrong about the freelance writing world. This one's no exception.

Great for making you think through your business plan and what will make you distinct as a writing business. Not so great for figuring out how to get work.
