Moira Russell OMG THIS WAS SO GOOD. Well as I told Bri I wanted to drown the narrator in a bucket. But the house! the atmospherics! the hauntings!

Margaret I liked it more the first time I read it, I think. This time it was a little long, and the narrator was a little more irritating. But still, marvelous atmosphere!

....yeah, I can't see myself actually rereading it for a while, altho I think I did reread bits right after finishing it. (OMG THAT NARRATOR.) It really is such a gorgeous study of decaying post-war Britain, tho, and I just absolutely love the house. I love country house stories anyway, and the way she mashes it up with the Gothic is just superb.
