If you're a fan of language or grammar, or wonder why you hated English class so much, or just want a History of English from a fresh new perspective, this book is for you!
McWhorter forgets all the typical loan-word histories and focuses on how our grammar departed from other Germanic languages and why it might have happened. It was so fascinating and so quick to read, that everyone with even the slightest interest in English grammar should read this.
