This book covers some important aspects of social / economical policies / decisions of lawmakers of independent India. It gives us a deep understanding of the reasons of the failure of economic polices of first 40 years and then relative success in 90s. However, I feel author has unfairly criticized Pundit Nehru.
We may not have achieved what we should have, but we are far better placed to go forward if we consider the legacy we got at the time of Independence. Also I do not believe in giving full control to market. State has considerably failed in lifting the life of many, but need is to hold responsible powers accountable and not scrapping the power of State.
