it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult, self-image, historical, realistic, romance, suspence

This book is very noir. Very appropriate for the post-war era setting. I found the main character a bit to naive for a fifteen year old who survived the depression and then the war. It's hard to believe under those conditions that she'd be so sheltered. But, it could be possible if she were such a people pleaser and desperate for the happy family.

Overall I found the writing to be compelling and the story to be dark and suspenseful while still remaining appropriate for young adults.
