really liked it
bookshelves: read-in-2009

This is a touching book although surprisingly I didn't shed any tears. I love the way it is told through memories of past events. I read this book because Summit has optioned it to turn it into a movie.

Reader beware once again this is a young adult book with more than it's fair share of the F word and other colorful language and teenage sex is accepted and even expected.

Elizabeth I loved the author's use of music to further charaterization. She wrote a believable 17 year old protagonist without being cliche. She also managed to keep the ending believable without being predictable. Liked it a lot. The only downer was the casual attitude towards teenage sex, as if it's a given - that felt a bit forced for the character, but those details weren't explicit or overdone. Would recommend to pretty much anyone.

blackplume this book is one of my best reads this year
