My friend sent an email: "You've got to read this book--I have no mascara left!" Wow, I thought, must be really good! I bought it, came home and settled in on the couch to read it. So. It's the story of a little girl and a toy rabbit--a toy rabbit with selfish, and sometimes mean thoughts, but the girl loves him and treats him as though he were real. And then the rabbit somehow gets lost...and found...and lost...and found. All the while, Edward the rabbit gets rattier and smellier....and humble and caring. I'm thinking, all well and good, but crying so much over this book that you have no mascara left? C'mon. It gets late, I take the book to bed with me. Pretty soon, I'm sniffling, then the tears start leaking out, and I understand. Wow. Read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and you will too.
