Y'know, Gators, I thought this would be a girly-girly princess book...and it is, kinda. There are a bunch of girls who are all in princess training, all hoing to be selected by the prince to be his bride. But that's where the connection ends. Miri is tiny, and as such has never been allowed to work in the quarry where her family and the rest of her village work. She's hoping this whole princess thing will show her father that she is capable of helping the family in some way. Princess training is not fun, being run by a grumpy headmistress with lots of unreasonable rules. The girls are cut off from their families, and this leads to danger. Miri realizes she has a talent that can save all of them.
