Interesting Historical Fiction about the infamous last, and unfinished novel of Charles Dickens, and the mystery surounding the search for the true ending. Pearl dives into the world of publication houses during the mid to late 19th century in American and brings to life the streets of what has since become known as 'Dickensian' London. I have not read the similar book that was published this year entitled 'Drood' so I can not compare the two. But I have read Pearl's 'The Dante Club' so I'm somewhat familiar with his writing. Similar to 'The Dante Club' this work is entertaining for what it is - simply a mystery. The historical era is more of a backdrop, making this a period piece rather than an historical fiction. As a mystery novel, however, this book is fun and more than worth a quick summer read.
