I knew from the synopsis and reviews that this wouldn't be the most action-packed book out there, which was fine. It's nice to read a gentle, calm work of fiction every so often. Even knowing that going in, though, I had a hard time getting into the story until I'd read almost 200 pages. I really liked the characters, but found myself easily distracted while reading. There just wasn't enough going on, and there were so many easy stopping places, even during chapters, that I sometimes had to force myself to continue reading just so I could make some progress.

By the end of the book, though, I liked all of the characters even more than at the beginning. I enjoyed the few small mysteries and other small-town-type events that happened. Father Tim is a very nice, gentle person who genuinely cares for his congregation. I loved how many of the characters continually turned to prayer and scripture for answers. I especially loved one of Father Tim's favorite scriptures, which is found in Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
