This is a great historical account, that kept me reading and reading, and wanting to read more after I had finished. Barry is a master of historical language, and could help any level of reader get interested in American history. This book not only uncovers the events of the floods, but also studies economic factors, and cultural as well, thus allowing the reader to grasp America's cultural identity before the Great Depression. There is even an analogous story of the flooding of New Orleans that is closely comparable to the way post Hurricane Katrina was handled.
