I was gripped by this book from the first time I picked it up. The style takes a bit of getting used to, but the story grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

Somewhere in the middle of the book, the cold and wet landscape and the struggle for survival became monotonous and at that moment it felt like that was exactly what the author was trying to portray. The book follows father and son trying desperately to survive after some cataclysmic event. The novel depicts the horrible things people must do to survive in a place where all regular means of support have been obliterated.

The book is very dark. So, if you're feeling down, this might not be the book for you. Some complain about the plot of this book, but I found that I was learning about this new world the entire time I was reading. The depiction of this place was enough of a story to keep me captivated for the entire book.

I highly recommend this book.
