In Ohio in 1979, Timmy Quinn is looking forward to a long, hot summer filled with adventures alongside his friend, the subdued and timid Pete. After spotting the eponymous character at Myers Pond, things take a turn for the worse and Timmy’s summer - even with the addition of a new friend called Kim Barnes - grows very dark indeed. Told with a sure hand and almost dripping with atmosphere, this brings Timmy and his summer and Ohio to life vividly and is both gripping and frightening. A brilliantly told story and thoroughly recommended.
