This book is the first in a series of books for anyone who wants to learn about Dianetics and the Church of Scientology. The COS came after Dianetics was written and so Dianetics is really about the study of the mind. While I agree that the information is out of date (we've come so far in terms of medical science since this book was first published 59 years ago), but it still explains a lot about why we react the way we do to certain situations and why people react differently to things that happen in their life.

I doubt I'll read every book in this series, but I'm glad I took the time to read it.
