really liked it
bookshelves: to-buy, mystery, fiction
Read in September, 2007

On a certain level this was probably a very self-indulgent thing for Sayers to write, but I really enjoyed the love story aspects of this book anyway. The trepidation and uncertainty felt by Harriet, Peter, and Bunter after the engagement and marriage I thought were very true to life.

The mystery was brief but well-done, especially the scene of the reveal. That was brilliantly constructed, tense, vivid, and truly scary.

I had a couple of quibbles with several aspects of Lord Peter’s characterization (I thought they were retconned), but as I haven’t read all the novels yet, I could very well be mistaken.
