This wasn’t an especially memorable book for me. After becoming acquainted with a concept album that led to the Broadway musical, I decided to read the original book. I’ve also seen the old black and white film starring the awesome Frederic March, and a recent stage play adaptation. None have captivated me.

I feel like this is a story that hasn’t aged well in our morally relativistic times. It’s hard to call anything completely good or evil these days. There have been lots of adaptations, and most seem to have proven forgettable. Still, it all adds up to a story that is unquestionably iconic.
