really liked it
bookshelves: children
Read in May, 2009

This reading was made even more special by the fact that Neil Gaiman came to our school and read from The Graveyard Book. He spoke of his inspiration for Coraline (that there weren't really scary stories for 5-year-olds and that seemed to be what his daughter was interested in). He is an intruiging and engaging man who captivated a room full of some-what rowdy 10-12 year-olds beautifully. Coraline is quite scary and clever - very much recommended for youngsters who feel overlooked or adults who like to dabble in other worlds.
