Don Cupitt, an Anglican priest and theologian, has produced a book that reviews the history of the conflict between orthodox Christianity and the modernism founded on the development of the scientific method. Though he comes down as a modernist instead of a traditionalist, the book shows how religious faith remains a vital response to the world, even after you give up the notion that God directly and miraculously controls every detail of human life.
