Dear Kyra, Any apology for the heinous crimes you endured are unacceptable. The community you grew to love was unreasonable. Gender inequality is an unforgivable crime. The power driven supreme leader and his hormonal henchmen who held the community captive, were self-serving old men who used the wrath of God as an excuse to beat and oppress young girls and women was all unacceptable...just so old men can propagate using teenage girls as their conquests.

The Chosen One opened my eyes further by revealing a teen girl's raw emotions after realizing she had no freedom, no choice to live her own life. Bravo to Carol Lynch Williams for writing this novel, and bravo to ST. Martin's Griffin for publishing this powerfully beautiful, concisely written narrative.
