I loved the opportunity to see Lestat's side of the tale. You don't know whether to love him or hate him but you're just drawn to him anyway. This whole book basically explains Lestat's behaviour all through Interview with the Vampire. I really liked his origin story but I really like the bits at the end with Marius, Those Who Must Be Kept, and the lead up into book three. There are so many stories that you want to hear (and you do hear some in other books) but Lestat is our lovely antihero and we love him there.

I also love Gabrielle. I love just how free Gabrielle becomes and how that scares Lestat. Lots of philosophy, as always, but it doesn't drag the book down or cause the plot to wander or anything.
