Fanon was active in the Algerian freedom movement. Based on his experiences, he wrote this treatise on the struggle for freedom in colonial societies. I can't remember what class I read this for - probably some sociology class at UMass.

This one is one of the cornestones of revolutionary struggle that overtook the world in the mid twentieth century. Hardly recreational reading, but it's importance historically and as an influence on postcolonial fiction is hard to overstate.
