The first Sunny Randall novel I’ve read (though not the first in the series), this has a good central story that I really liked and it’s typically well told, in Parker’s brisk style. I didn’t, however, warm to Sunny all that much - a lot of the time, she felt like a transplanted Spenser (which could just be me) and her supporting cast felt like it was placed for strategic reasons, rather than the organic way Spenser collected Hawk and Susan, et al. Not a bad book (though the ending is a tad unlikely) and well worth a read, but whilst I’ll probably try another in the series, I can’t say Parker has won me over with this character yet.

Katie Agreed 100%! On just about everything you wrote. I loved all the SPencer books - read all the J Stone books too - now I'm on to Sunny Randall who I thought I would never read, but with Parker's passing and all and the reality that there would never be another Spencer book I took what I could get.

Mark Thanks, Katherine. I have yet to try the Stone books, though a friend has some copies for me.
